RICARDO ANDRÉS GRIEGO
Ricardo Andrés Griego was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico and was raised in the Santa Fe and Albuquerque area. He is known for his enthusiasm, passion and versatility in a variety of styles – Classical, Flamenco, Latin and the Spanish Guitar in general. He is also an accomplished composer and an inspired teacher. Ricardo received a scholarship to the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. From there he went on for his master’s degree at the University of Southern California. During the college years Ricardo participated as a performer in Master Classes with top classical masters such Manuel Barrueco, David Russell, Elliot Fisk, David Starobin, David Tanenbaum and the L.A. Guitar Quartet. Ricardo stayed in Los Angeles for a few years where he was featured in such groups as Sangre Sabia, Francis X (Bizarre Straight Records) with a video of “One Heartbeat” Bizarre Straight Records and The Company Jeff Richter producer and aired on MTV and has appeared with such soloist as Alfonso Johnson (Santana/Abraxis), Randy Castillo, Michele Greene (L.A. Law), Valentina Vargas, Phil Soussan. Ricardo also performed with the Cologne Philharmonic in a German production of Christian Jost’s Fragile Eggshell Mind. Feeling a need to return to his roots, Ricardo returned to Albuquerque where he started two bands of Nuevo Flamenco and Latin music. In 2000 Ricardo’s flamenco inspired composition Spanish Cypress won Best Latin Production at Albuquerque’s Mic Awards. Some of Ricardo’s music and compositions have enjoyed radio play, including on a national level on Radio Romántica. His latest CD entitled “Sombras” (Shadows) is an instrumental album of his original music in the style of flamenco/Latin. After being offered a performing engagement at the Paris Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas Nevada, Ricardo now makes Las Vegas home. He continues to perform up and down the strip for special events and appeared 4 nights a week at the Arabesque Lounge in prestigious Lake Las Vegas for 5 years. Ricardo recorded his latest CD, Passages in Las Vegas and was released in January 2008. In 2008 Ricardo caught the eye of the General Manager of the Hyatt Regency Gainey Ranch in Scottsdale Arizona. An offer was made to bring Ricardo and with formation of a new band and began a 3 year contract.In 2012, Ricardo once returned to Las Vegas “The City of Entertainment” where he continues to perform both publicly and privately and some of the most sought after properties in the Las Vegas area. More recently Ricardo has opened up for such acts as Los Lobos, Malo, Esteban, Linda Ronstadt and Tower of Power.
